Puppies are born with maternal antibodies that can prevent active immunization when vaccinated. Maternal antibodies begin to wear down shortly  after weaning. Therefore, it is best to maintain isolation of puppies until they have received a series of vaccinations and are at least 16 weeks of age.

Safeguard your puppy from disease !

Vaccinations stimulate your puppies immune system to protect itself against disease.

Canine Distemper, a highly contagious virus related to the human measles virus, but can have a highly more serious effect on dogs.  The virus is shed in the urine, feces, saliva and other discharges from infected dogs.  It can even be transmitted in the air.  This disease can lead to fever, anorexia, respiratory and intestinal problems, neurological disease and death.
Canine Adenovirus: (Hepatitis)  This virus is transmitted by oral or nasal exposure to infected secretions.  This virus can survive for months in the environment and can lead to liver, kidney and eye complications.

Infectious Tracheobronchitis:  A highly infective respiratory disease that can infect the larynx, trachea, bronchi and lungs.  Leading to a retching cough and nasal discharge.  This disease is transmitted by inhalation or direct contact with an infected dog.  Often called Kennel Cough, the hallmark of this disease is a loud honking type of cough.
Canine Parvovirus:  A serious intestinal virus that can be transmitted by contact with infected feces, toys, food bowls and other objects.  It can lead to vomiting, bloody diarrhea, fever, dehydration and death.
Canine Coronavirus:  An intestinal disease transmitted by exposure to infected feces.  Symptom is diarrhea.

Borreliosis (Lyme Disease):  Spread by deer ticks.  Infected dogs can show signs of lethargy, fever, anorexia and lameness

 Frequently Asked Questions:

Will my dog get sick after it is vaccinated?

The idea is, better to get a little sick now than a lot sick later.

What kind of reaction to the vaccine should I expect?

A systemic reaction, including a low-grade fever or muscle aches and pain. This reaction is more common in young and toy breed dogs and causes them to eat less and sleep more for 24-48 hours. Rarely, dogs will have a more severe reaction, characterized by hives, swelling of the face, or even vomiting.
